Warmia and Mazury region is located in the North-Eastern Poland. In the north it neighbours on the Kaliningrad District of the Russian Federation.
Province is divided into 19 districts and 2 cities at the rights of districts - Olsztyn and Elblag. Warmia and Mazury province covers an area of 24 173 km2, of which 55% is an arable land, 32% a forest land, less than 5% - surface water and built-up areas only 3,5%.
The Office of the Marshal of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship is the executive body of the Self-government of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship.
Marshal’s Office helps to fulfill the tasks of the Provincial Board as outlined in the local government regulations, the Province of Warmia and Mazury Act, and particular acts and regulations issued in order to implement such acts.
The Office is headed by the Provincial Marshal, assisted by vice-marshals, members of the Board, Provincial Secretary, Provincial Treasurer and Department Directors. The Marshal, together with the Board, assigns tasks to the vice-marshals and other members of the Board.
Department of Information Society in the Office of the Marshal of the Warminsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship is responsible for development of information society in the province of Warmia and Mazury.
Strategic objectives are:
- improving conditions of access to the Internet;
- increase in the number of information technology and telecommunications users;
- development of contents and services available on-line.
